1 | Predestination question? | 1 Tim 2:4 | Jephthae | 84942
Let me ask you a question. In 1Timothy 2:4 is he talking about all the human race or those whom he called. Mathew 22:14 says many are called but few chosen. When God called Israel out of Egypt whom did he call the whole human race or his chosen people. Obviously it was his chosen people. It is impossible for lost mankind to choose anything in their lost condition. Before anyone can come to God he has to call us first. It is not our choosing. If it was then we are greater than God. Eph.2:8 Do you think you can choose you parents before you were conceived. If you told some one you did they would think you were crazy. The bible does teach predestination but not of your self. Rev.17:8 says some people were astonished. Who were those that were astonished. Those that were not written in the book of life from when. The foundation of the world. That means that all those that were saved in years past those that are saved now and in the future were chosen by God.Deut.7:7 says God chose Isreal, Isreal did not choose God. I believe in a God that does what he wants. There is not one verse that says God asks lost mankind to follow him only those whom he has chosen.mark13:20,john13:18,15:16;19. There are many others but this should be enough. |

2 | Predestination question? | 1 Tim 2:4 | Scribe | 84970
I am tempted to add more scriptures to each one you mention, some which round out the scripture truth yours bring up, and some that go beyond to present a complete picture such as the concept of Blotting out names written in the Book, which presents a whole different idea than what you are attempting to present. I am not saying that this forumn is not the place to post them, I cannot think of a better "forumn" than this one to explore both sides of the issue, since each side has to carefully read the other's and this would contribute to a much more productive form of exchange in an effort to sincerely arrive at a conclusion based on a correct interpretation of the whole counsel of God. However, partly because I think the subject has already been given more attention than it is due in academic circles, and partly because I think the vast majority of saints have already made up their minds on this subject before they ever enter into such debates, I will refrain from any further posts on predestination at this time. Maybe later when I am writing my Bible Study Series on this subject I will post some Scriptures and arguments for why I believe the way I do. Meanwhile.. May God Bless you in your study of His Word |
