'ARE THERE TWO PAROUSIAS OF CHRIST?' 'Pretribulationism sees two separate parousias (comings) of Christ, one when He comes "for His Church" and the second, when He comes "with His Church," a grammatical position with not one verse of substantiation or explanation. One second coming of Christ (parousia) is referred to, never two, never spoken of in the plural, and never differentiated by any writer, including Christ. As important as the return of Christ is, if two separate parousias were the teachings of Christ and Paul, there would be no confusion in this matter. 'What's even worse, the proof text of Christ coming "with" the Church is a singular passage given in Revelation 19. At the great and final battle of Armageddon, "the armies which are heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him [Christ] on white horses" (v.14). Simply because they are wearing white linen clothing some assume Christ's army must be the "bride of Christ," even though the angels are seen wearing the exact same clothing (Rev. 15:6). Both Christ and Paul taught that it would be His angels that accompany Christ in battle during the day of the Lord (Mt. 16:27; 2 Th. 1:7-8). The idea that the new bride of Christ is to, immediately after the marriage ceremony described earlier in the chapter, follow her bridegroom into battle stretches one's imagination, especially in the light of the other clear teachings of Scripture. The prewrath view sees only one parousia of Christ, at a time that perfectly harmonizes every passage.' ____________________ http://solagroup.org/articles/endtimes/et_0006.html |

2 | Is the rapture biblically supported? | 1 Thess 4:17 | following him | 132426
Good morning Kalos; Although a pretriby for many years I'm at the moment reevaluating my stance on the issue. The scriptures you mention here about the linen white and clean on the armies of heaven can be seen as the bride of Christ especailly since the bride of Christ was specifically mention in Rev 19:7-8 "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints." Since it is so closely connected in context with the return of Christ in this passage; I do not think it is a "stretch of the imagination" to think that the armies of heaven are the bride. However according to the law brides and wives were not allowed to go to war (i dont know if that would apply in this case though, And is there any other scriptures mentioning that the church is the, a, an, etc. army of the Lord, God, heaven, etc. If not then the idea of these armies being that army may need to be reevaluated because of lack of supporting scriptures that the church even plays such a role. Also in reference to the angels wearing the exact same thing Rev 15:6, the linen white and clean in rev 19 8 is the righteous deeds of the saints. How would that relate to angels if the linens white and clean were the same. |

His angels accompany Christ in battle 'Both Christ and Paul taught that it would be His ANGELS that accompany Christ in battle during the day of the Lord (Mt. 16:27; 2 Th. 1:7-8).' following him: Matthew 16:27 (ESV) For the Son of Man is going to come with his ANGELS in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. (Emphasis added.) 2 Thes. 1:7-8 (ESV) and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty ANGELS [8] in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. (Emphasis added.) Rev. 15:6 (ESV) and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests. 'At the great and final battle of Armageddon, "the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him [Christ] on white horses" (v.14). 1:7-8).' Yes, it is supported in scripture by saying phrases such as the catching away of the saints. the verses above that you found are relating to the second coming of the Lord which is altogether different from the rapture. the rapture takes place then after the tribulation the second coming takes place
