Hi Tim: Question on the filling that you say, can take place more than once. My question then is, where is the scripture about being refilled after we have lost the filling on account of "sin" in our lives? Because all of the examples you have provided, talk about being filled again, and praising God, and Joy, but they neglect to mention, the bringing of the believer back into the Graces of God. See my point. I will conceed the possibility of numerous fillings, but which scripture speaks to the falling away from the faith (GRACE), because of sin, then being restored with a re-filling? To be Re-filled on account of Sin in our lives, would constitute a loss of the Holy Spirit. Does not Sin grieve the Holy Spirit? Would not the committing of Sin, then asking forgiveness constitute (WORKS?) (Do not the Catholics so?) When "WE" all know it is by Grace! Heb. 6:4-6 4) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6) If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Because we are partakers of the Holy Spirit. Eph. 1:13 13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph. 4:30 30) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. So we see, we have been sealed, with the Holy Spirit of promise, for the day of redemption. Can the word ("FOR") in "for the day of redemption" be understood as ("UNTIL") if so then there is the answer on the grounds, that within the word (UNTIL), there is not any room for intermitant loss, it is a constant, an innevitable, an irrevicable. In closing I offer to you, the true GRACE of GOD in the life of the believer. Because we have a hard time comprehending, all the riches of his glory towards us. Rom. 9:23 23) And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 1 John 3:8,9 8) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1John 5:18 18) We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. Hello Nevvvvine, Tim never said we lose "the filling on account of 'sin' in our lives." He said the filling comes and goes. Refilling does not constitute loss as could be demonstrated by filling a glass of water, dumping out half, then refilling it. It is a similar concept with the Holy Spirit. Steve |
