1 | Righteousness of God? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Mommapbs | 120120
Jesus Christ is the "righteousness of God." (Romans 3:21) However, using this reference, (2 Cor 5:21) I was told that believers are the "righteousness of God." Might one get the notion of acquired divinity - (we will all become gods) unless we focus on the words, "IN HIM?" I'd appreciate some input here!

Mommapbs, A good question and your observation is right on track! Check 1 Cor. 1:30-31 as a reference. We have no righteousness on our own, nor do we merit it apart from faith. We are imputed the righteousness of God- by faith. So, you are correct that our focus should be on "In Him". It's certainly "not of ourselves, lest we could boast" :-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

4 | Righteousness of God? | 2 Cor 5:21 | BradK | 120158
Mommapbs, Upon further thought, I'd add Phil. 3:9, "...and be found IN HIM, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
