1 | 2 Corinthians- What is 'suffering' | 2 Cor 1:5 | gracefull | 80556
2 Corinthians is commonly used to attempt to afirm the following statement: "God makes us sick sometimes to teach or discpline us." or as some say" God allows us to become sick to teach us." I submit that nowhere in 2 Corinthians is Paul making these above assertions. God teaches through His Word by the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 1:5-7 For just as Messiah's sufferings over flow in us, so through Messiah our encouragement also overflows. So if we undergo trials, it is for our encouragement and deliverance; and if we are encouraged, that should encourage you when you have to endure sufferings like those we are experiencing. Moreover, our hope for you remains staunch, because we know that as you share in the sufferings, you will also share in the encouragement and deliverance. 1. Messiah's sufferings...Messiah's encouragement. Sufferings..Strongs#2347-Anguish, burdoned, persecution, tribulation, troubles. As we are in union with Christ..we share His sufferings.. and in union with Jesus we also partake of His encouragement or KJV says consolation..Messiah did not 'suffer' sickness. These scriptures confirm what Jesus said..In this world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world... What 2 Corinthians says: The sufferings Paul endured are listed in 2 Corinthians 11:23 CJB imprisoned more often suffered more beatings been near death over and over fie times receied 40 lashes less one by the Jews three times I was beaten with rods once I was stoned, three times shipwrecked, in danger, hunger... These are the 'afflictions'. What these scriptures do not say... God inflicted me with sickness to teach me endurance...Thess scriptures tell us that because of our association with Christ Jesus, the world will hate us and persecute us and even try to kill us...And the more diligent and faithful the greater the persecutions. But we also share the ENCOURAGEMENT and DELIVERANCE. 2 Corinthians 12:7 Therefore (due to the visions) thorn...messenger from the Adversary..to pound away at me...after praying three times God said,'..My power(dunamos-miraculous, wonder working) is brought to perfecton in weakness." Adversary-KJV says messenger from Satan- Messenger-Strongs #32 - angel(from Satan) was the thorn... Nothing here even remotely eludes to sickness or desease, much less sickness and desease GOD sent to humble! Unless we are receiving great visions from God, there is no reason to even consider we are in the same category! God bless |

2 | 2 Corinthians- What is 'suffering' | 2 Cor 1:5 | disciplermeam | 80991
Suffering is a part of being a Christian. Jesus sufered, leaving us an example to follow in his steps. Do you think people will suffer if they do not obey Jesus' command to be baptized? The following are just a few plain verses...[edited] Matt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Mark 16:16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Acts 9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized; Acts 22:16 'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.' Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Col 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 1 Pet 3:21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, |
