The problem I have with the church is that I think most people are focused on the fact that the rapture will be pretrib. I belive that most churches believe this and teach this, if they decide to even teach anything about the endtimes. Because it is so debatable and because it is possible that the rapture could be post trib, I frustrated that the church doesnt teach the possibility of both ways it could occur. They take one side or the other. If a person believes that it is pre trib then it is too easy to think they have nothing to worry about. They may not take the 10 virgins with the oil lamps too seriously. They will have their lamps but not their oil and they will miss the rapture. I think it is very possible that it will be post trib and I just think the church needs to prepare people for that possiblity. Too may people I have encounter say they will not worry about it because they won't be here for it. | ||||||

Hi cmfrantz: Here's why I believe Scripture teaches a pre-trib rapture: Dan 9:24 "Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city"--The 70 weeks prophecy has to do with Daniel's "people" (Israel) and his "holy city" (Jerusalem)! The 69th week ended with "Messiah cut off" so one "week" is left for Israel: the Tribulation "week"! In Matt 24, Jesus' description of the Trib "week" is all about Jewish aspects: "standing in the holy place"--"those in Judea"--"Sabbath"--"false Christs (Messiahs) and prophets" Matt 4:23, Jesus is "proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom" which is the same that He says will be proclaimed during the Trib. (Matt 24:14)The same message Jesus brought to Israel will be preached by the 144,000 Jewish evangelists in Rev. Rev 1:19 gives us the outline which is chronological: "What you have seen"--Christ in His glorified body (Christ ascended before the church began); "the things which are"--the 7 churches which are at the beginning of the church age; "the things which shall take place after these things"--what happens after the church age! Also, with all the details given in Rev. about the Trib. yet no mention of the church from 3:22 until 22:16. The rapture of the church before the Trib is a logical event to indicate the beginning of it. If the church goes through the Trib. what event triggers it? How do we know when it starts? I hope this helps...at least provide food for thought! |

Daniq, You ask how will we know when it starts if the people are not taken out (which I don't believe is going to happen first) - we will know when the covenant is made to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem and the building begins. I'm a pre-wrath believer. I believe that we will be here to witness that event and the wrath of hasatan on God's people. We will not be here to witness God's wrath on the lawless wicked ones, we will be enjoying the marriage supper of the Lamb! (Mark 13:3-27 is very fine proof-text that we will be here, especially see verses 14-19 and verse 24 is a strong indication that He was not speaking [only] of the persecution that the early church went through.) |

Dear grafted, Good answer. I'm with you -- at least as far as I can go with eschatology. "You will bear me witness, my friends, that it is exceedingly seldom I ever intrude into the mysteries of the future with regard to the second advent, the millennial reign, or the first and second resurrection. As often as we come across it in our expositions we do not turn aside from the point, but if guilty at all on this point, it is rather in being too silent than saying too much." --Charles Spurgeon In Him, Doc |
