Greetings Melanie! If I might make a suggestion about how one view's Paul and women, I would say that we should not judge him based upon today's standards, but by his own time. What do I mean by that? Simply this, I believe that Paul gets a bad rap for his views on women. In the first place, I think that most of his views are misunderstood, so that we are really reacting to what we thought he taught as opposed to what he actually taught. Secondly, I believe that we do him a major injustice to judge him based upon our culture and time and not his own. Women in Paul's day had no rights, no education, no authority, no value. The culture was dead wrong. Even Genesis makes it clear that God created woman to be "an equal power", or a partner for man. It was never God's desire that woman be beaten down. However, the culture in which Paul lived did exactly that very thing. Yet, Paul opened the door for greater things. He taught that there was not gender or racial distinctions in Christ. He openly accepted women ministry partners. The things he said and did (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) were groundbreaking in his day. We may not always like what Paul says, but it is Scripture. :-) There are many things in Scripture that I don't always like, or that I would rather not hear. However, I must submit to God's revealed will rather than my own. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hello Melanie, Many things Paul said used to upset me too because I received man's interpretation, but once I got man out of my head and just prayed and read I started to see what Paul says in a very different light - that is in unity with Jesus. I totally agree with Tim here. I love Paul now and find that he always has the right answer for me through GOD's Spirit of truth. I cannot blame Paul for our inability to understand him or take offense to him or the way his words have been abused by some. I blame Satan and our sin. And Melanie, I thank GOD for your wonderfully cheerful and loving spirit. through HIS love of us, deb |

I wasn't so cheerful yesterday. I blasted Kalos. Well, it was a blast for me anyway. I just love God and I want to share it with everyone. When people try to hoard it to themselves or seem to be putting conditions on it, declaring God has put these conditions on it--not them, oh no, never them!, that's one of the few things that can still get me really mad. (And me a redhead who used to have the temper stereotyped to redheads!) I suppose I should post and apologize to Kalos. But I'm not going to. If God wants me to, He can make me. I know He will if that's what He wants. There are some on this forum that would use that statement to reinforce their 'no free will' arguments, but I don't buy that either. I just figure He is rather like my young children. When they want me to do something, they just don't stop bothering me about it until my "no" turns into an "I don't know", then into a "maybe", and finally an "okay, fine!" That's the way He works on me anyway. I figure He's just teaching me the way I should work with Him. Persistently. And if anyone wants to hammer me on that one I will direct you to the OT, Abraham pleading for Sodom and Gommorah, and to keep things equal, also to the NT, where the woman is haranging Jesus about saving her daughter from demons. He even calls her a dog and she just keeps at Him. Persistance. God wants it from us. Hmm. Wonder how I got to that from Paul. Thanks for your kind post. God Bless, Melanie |

Thankyou Melanie, You have just taught me something. Your angle of 'persistance' is a very good one. Persistantly we shall walk in the love of Jesus our Lord, day after day after day. May His forgiveness wash over us for eternity. GOD bless you, deb |
