1 | Can anyone explain? | 1 Cor 12:13 | BradK | 120656 | ||
WTB, Thank you for your response. In what sense am I complete in Him? Well, first of all ,never did I say "feel" complete. Our faith is based upon fact- the Word of God. I believe the promises in God's Word. I call these identification truths- I am now identified with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection! So, to be complete in Him is to be complete in all He accomplished in the forementioned acts. Christ now (presently) lives in me. This is a fact of scripture, not a feeling! Second, I'm not talking a cavalier or flippant faith, but again, one based on His Word! How about Eph. 1:3, am I , or am I not "Blessed with all the spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, in Christ?" His Word says I am:-) Whether one "feels so" or not, is not the issue! Let me ask you (rhetorically if you choose), what do you mean when you say "Don't be deceived - God is more than what theology teaches, He's real!" I'm not deceived. How much more real can you get than, Gal. 2:20, Christ living in us! My friend, theology is merely the study of God. We understand about God primarily through His Word, don't we? I'm glad to hear that your faith is not based on feelings. I am more concerned with your statement "how much more of Him can I get?" Yes, as a believer, all of the promises of God are open to you. But that's why I asked all of those questions, have you attained all of the promises He has for you? Remember when God promised the Israelites "a land flowing with milk and honey? (starting at Exodus 3)" They had to go through the wilderness to get there. Yes, He had many promises for them in the promised land, but they had to get there. So it is with all of the promises He has for us. We already have Salvation through Jesus and some of us, the Holy Ghost, but there are many, many more - including eternal life with Him. All of the people who were promised the land didn't make it there. Same with some who call themselves believers - not all are going to have eternal life with God (Matthew 7:21). The reason I stated, "Don't be deceived - God is more than what theology teaches" is because God is not a subject to be studied. To study Him as a subject means to find out all that's available about Him and bring it to an understanding acceptable to the mind and to enable operation in what is naturally desired. God is a living being and He told us to "study to show ourselves approved" unto Him! If I were to study you, how much can I learn without you telling me things about you, there are probably things about you that you haven't discovered. Everything we will know about God will be revealed to us by the Holy Ghost. To know more about Him is to get closer to Him in our walk with Him. Theology doesn't teach one to "know" God, it teaches one "about" God. Both are needed to make to be with God. See Isaiah 40:28 WalkingTalkingBible |

WTB, Two statements you make appear unclear. Possibly you can elaborate:-) "Everything we will know about God will be revealed to us by the Holy Ghost." " Sometimes, people who call themselves saved are only justified by what they think the Bible says. The Holy Ghost is the teacher and without Him, the Gospel remains "hidden" I want to be fair and not take either of these out of context. Hopefully you're not suggesting that the Word of God doesn't teach us or that we don't learn about God by it? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

"Everything we will know about God will be revealed to us by the Holy Ghost." In elaborating on this statement, I will use Scripture, keeping in mind that God is His Word. Matthew 11:27 says, "All things are delivered unto Me of My Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him." This verse shows us that no man knows the Son (or the Word), but the Father. The Son is Jesus, Who is the Word in the flesh (John 1:1, 14). The Word is only revealed by the Father through the Holy Ghost: John 16:13 says, "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come." The second statement I made is about those who lean to their own understanding of the Word; those who are not filled with the Holy Ghost and led by Him. Those who read the Bible and "teach" themselves. Those who don't know God, but know of Him. 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 says, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." Proverbs 3:5 says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." No, be comforted to know that I'm not suggesting neither that the Word of God doesn't teach us, nor that we don't learn by it, I'm saying that we can't teach ourselves. It is the Holy Ghost that teaches us all things (John 14:26). Although, everyone preaching is not preaching sound doctrine, the fivefold ministry is very important to the spiritual growth of the believer. God knows every heart and if one wants to really know the truth, He will guide him to a church where the truth is being taught. But if one just wants to be self righteous, then he will search for a place that is saying what he wants to hear. It's so important to be filled with the Holy Ghost and learn because after hearing the preacher/teacher, one needs to be able to study and meditate on the Scriptures learned so they can be put into action. Ephesians 4:17-18 says, "This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:" Does this help clear those two statements up?
