1 | Can anyone explain? | 1 Cor 12:13 | BradK | 120545 | ||
WTB, Hank beat me to the punch, but my question is much the same: How does being baptized differ from "the filling" or indwelling! Secondly, what is not clear about 1 Cor. 12:13? Also, if I'm complete in Him (Col.2:10) and Christ lives in me as Galatians 2:20 says, how much more of Him can I get? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Colossians 2:10 and Galatians 2:20 makes you feel "complete" in what sense? If God has done all He has to with you, you no longer need Him. There is much, much more of Him for you to get! Do you know Him? God is a living being, Sovereign, Holy, mysterious - no way do you know all that there is to know about Him. Everything you need is in Him - is that what you mean by "complete?" Do you know Him personally? As your healer? your provider? your Comforter? Are you anointed with and operating in His power to heal the sick, cast out devils, and raise the dead? Do you hear His voice? Do you have all of the fruit of the Spirit? Are you totally without sin? Do you perfectly love everyone? Do you feel His presence (I haven't experienced all of these, either, just some)? Don't be deceived - God is more than what theology teaches, He's real! He sees, hears, talks, feels, and moves. He hasn't totally revealed Himself to no one. 2 Peter 1:3-11 shows us how to grow in grace - it's a process. Faith is an action word! False doctrines tell souls that "once saved always saved." That's a lie. The word "believe" in the greek means "to commit, accept, to trust." Being saved is being in a relationship with the Almighty God! If we have to work at making our natural relationships work, don't hesitate to think that you're going to have to put some work into this divine relationship. But God has given us everything we need to make this work - all we have to do is choose and grow (1 Peter 2:2; 2 Peter 3:18). Also see Romans 11:22; James 1:25; 1 Timothy 4:16 "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: IF ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven. . ." WalkingTalkingBible writes: "False doctrines tell souls that "once saved always saved." That's a lie." So do our works keep us saved? |

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." Romans 10:9-10 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." It's all about faith. |
