1 | Can anyone explain? | 1 Cor 12:13 | WalkingTalkingBible | 120475
Matthew 3:11 says, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" The baptism of the Holy Ghost and the indwelling of the Holy Ghost appear to be two different events that a true believer experiences. Can anyone explain? (Please, no theological references, only respond with what the Holy Ghost, Himself, has revealed - John 14:26) Thanks in advance, WalkingTalkingBible |

WTB, It is clear from scripture that ALL believers are baptized by the Holy Spirit upon salvation, Eph. 1:13, 1 Cor. 12:13. I do not believe there is any warrant for a "second" filling. I am complete in Him according to Col. 2:10. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

BradK, being baptized with the Holy Ghost is not the same as the filling, or indwelling of the Holy Ghost. See JCrichton's answer to my question. The Ephesians, Corinthians, and Colossians were not only baptized (into repentence), they were also filled with the Holy Ghost (and also, operating in the gifts of the Spirit). WalkingTalkingBible |

WalkingTalkingBible: Can you produce biblical teaching that clearly distinguishes any difference between being baptized by the Holy Spirit, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and being filled with the Holy Spirit? And, by the way, what is YOUR concept and definition of these terms? --Hank
