1 | filled with holy spirit? | Rom 8:13 | WalkingTalkingBible | 121192
Hi, Leonore! Don't beat yourself up, no one knows it all but God! It is better to get understanding than to walk in the darkness of one's own mind. According to Acts 2:4, "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." The "speaking in tongues" is the initial (or preliminary) sign of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost. The evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, according to Galatians 5:22-23, is the fruit of the Spirit: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance. . ." Yes, I am filled with the Holy Ghost. When I praise Him and worship Him, with all that's in me, His presence surrounds me. It's such a beautiful experience!! He is that Love everyone is looking for! His presence prompts you to magnify Him and when you are totally out of self -with nothing or no one on your heart but Him, He lets His presence be known. And while you are magnifying Him, your words become His words and that's the utterance (or tongues). I don't speak in tongues everytime, but each one of our relationships with Him is different. Because the Holy Ghost is God, sin is an offense to Him. He will dwell with you and in you as long as you want Him to. The ministry of the Holy Ghost is to: 1) Reprove (point out a fault or error or to expose something as it really is) the world of sin, which reveals the need of redemption 2) Reprove the world of righteousness, which is to reveal the possibility of redemption 3) Reprove the world of judgment, which is to reveal the reality of redemption (John 16:7-11) The Holy Ghost will not dwell with sin, that's why He points it out so the believer can confess it and ask for forgiveness. If a person continues to willfully sin, the Holy Ghost is not dwelling within - not because He leaves them, but because they have chosen to leave Him. Contrary to "popular belief," God does not dwell with sin! But as you continue to grow spiritually and fall in love with Him more and more, it will be nothing to praise and worship Him and He will continue to let His presence be known to you! I thank God for helping me to find this site. I appreciate you and all the people who take the time to answer my questions and help me to grow in understanding. It is going to take me quite a while to read the scriptures that you, Hank, and Daboniel have given me. Thank you very much for explaining the difference of when we make a mistake and sin and when we willfully sin and what happens in each instance. Love, Leonore

Leonore ... this is what I was saying. WTB is telling you something that is not 100 percent Biblical. Enter 116386 under Quick Search and read my post - I think I covered the topic of tongues well. Searcher |
