Everyone, All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. I am teachable, and I feel I have misspoke. There is discipline from God which may seem to be suffering while it lasts. I think I could take the conversation into semantics and say there would be no discipline without sin (evil) but while in this life both will continue. Well said, Mike! Our Lord was quite particular about how He spoke (Hebrews 1:1-2). Indeed, Paul even bases a whole doctrine on whether a single Hebrew word is plural or not! Consequently, part of our study of the Bible is finding ways to state things consistent with what God has revealed. Thank you for the fine example of being willing to search the Scriptures. | ||||||
