1 | What is preaching Christ? | John 7:17 | BradK | 167416
Hi Mitch, I simply have to disagree, my friend, I already stated what preaching Christ is! I don't intend to be condescending when I suggest you go back and read the first chapters of Ephesians or Colossians- the pinnacle of Biblical revelation as far as the believer is concerned. Look at all Christ has done for us and given us and the exalted position we are placed into by being IN CHRIST (en Christo)! It is not of ourselves. Case in point: Eph. 1:3 states that "we have been blessed with all the SPIRITUAL blessings, IN CHRIST!" Notice it says all and further notice it is conditioned upon us being in Christ! It's focus is on what Christ has already done for us! The blessing and focus of the believers walk is spiritual, Mitch. By contrast, the message of Hagin et al is one of man-centered and is material and fleshly in nature. The name-it-and-claim-it WOF makes God subservient to us and He becomes nothing more than a glorified vending machine! He is there to soley "give us stuff"! Do you see the contrast? (the hundred-fold return is all about me and what I can get from God. It also ignores the CONTEXT entirely!) Ask yourself the question posed by satan to God in Job 1:9. The height of audacity and blasphemy can be found in Hagins' "How To Write Your Own Ticket With God"?! This is man-centered to the core and has nothing to do with glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ and making Him preeminent in our lives. It's about getting what I want! Does this make sense? Hagins roots are found in Gnosticism and E.W Kenyon. Check it out. Might I suggest you read the book "The Agony of Deceit" by Michael Horton for starters. It documents well the un-Biblical foundations of Hagin and his crowd. If we seek Christ and Him alone, do we need anything else? Mitch, have you personally seen any mountains moved? If not, why? 2 | What is preaching Christ? | John 7:17 | mitchm0521 | 167417
Yes I have personally seen mountains moved. I am living in the 100 fold return on everything I sow into the Kingdom of God. God has just recently supernatually blessed my family with a beautiful new home. By the world's standards we would not be able to afford it, but by God's standards, and by his love for his children, we can afford it. You can talk badly about Brother Hagin all you like, you are the one who has to give an account of every idle word you speak when you stand before Christ. If you don't like the 100 fold message, maybe you might want to blot that part of scripture out of your bible, or at least try to explain to me what you believe it means, instead of using the devils tactics and becoming an accuser of the brethren. And yes, Ephesians states wonderful things Christ has done for us on the cross. Peter does as well when he points out that because of the stripes of Jesus Christ, because he was beaten, we can live in divine healing in our lives. I'm simply saying, that to say preaching miracles is not 'preaching Christ' as someone here put it. Then you must be saying that the cross is not a miraculous thing. And I'm simply saying, that since the cross is what brought me back into the relationship with God he ordained me to walk in before the foundation of the world, which yes as Jesus said , does include financial prosperity, then it is a mircale that needs to be preached. If you don't preach it, then you are leaving out a wonderful event that took place upon that cross. And I don't care to read a book that tries to document things about other men, I like to read scriptural messages. I don't worry about fussing and fighting with others. I like to leave the bad mouthing, trash talking to the sinners. Also, if you takt he time to read Brother Hagin's books yourself, then you will see that he glorifies the Lord in his own life, by having everything JEsus paid for. Jesus removed the curse from me, so if I still chose to live in sickness and disease, I'm throwing out part of what he paid for. If I don't walk in the fullness of his sacrifice, then I'm making the cross of none effect in my life. And I refuse to ever belittle anything that God has done for me. Brother I understand many don't like the message that Brother Hagin preaches, but all I ask is that instead of saying what so and so said, and talking about hearsay, and bad mouthing others. Give me scripture that prove a certain teaching is wrong. Otherwise, I'll not response anymore. I'm here to help those who have valid questions, I'm done with watching people talk bad about God's children. I don't agree with everything you say, does God then say that I should go around and bad mouth you? Talk down about you? I don't agree with everything Billy Graham says, but should I go around and say he shouldn't be on TV? NO that would be absurd, thousands, if not millions, have come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ through the ministry of Billy Graham, so even if the man is wrong on some of his beliefs on the Word, at least he is doing what God is leading him to do, and not sitting around bad mouthing Kenneth Copeland or Joyce Meyer. He's following God, and loving his neighbor. He's working no ill toward his neighbor. He's living the Word of God, even if he is wrong about some things, which I think he is, or at least I should say, I would believe that he is. But you'll never get me to say a bad thing about the man. He's done wonderful things for Christian faith. God Bless you, and remember, what God did in Jesus on the cross, is far greater than what satan did in Adam in the garden! Mitch |

3 | What is preaching Christ? | John 7:17 | BradK | 167418
Hi Mitch, I'll end this little discussion before it gets too heated by asking you 3 questions: 1. Which mountain did you see personally moved? Mt. Shasta, Mt. Rainier, or was it Mt. McKinley? Seriously. 2. I assume you worked for the money to buy the new home either through employment ot some sort or a business? Or, did it just magically appear? 2. Mark 10:30- What does the context reveal here? Who is speaking and what is being spoken about? Is this passage prescriptive or descriptive? Praise God for what He's doing in your life, brother? In Christ, BradK |

1. I have no need for any of those mountains to be moved. If I did, then I would move them. Jesus was not calling a fig tree a mountain you know. He was saying that whatever mountain you need moved, whatever obstacle you need removed, you speak to it, as he did the tree. He wasn't talking about a mountain like Mt. McKinley. But he was talking about mountains in the obstacle sense, like we say a 'mountain of debt' 2. God supernatually provided the new home, nothing changed in my paycheck or my wifes. But God loves his children, and he never lies you know. So when he said because I tithe he'd open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so much that I can't contain it, he wasn't just lieing when he said that. And even if I had gotten a huge increase in my paycheck, that would still be God, because every perfect gift comes down from the Father of LIghts with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turniing. So God could have done it by increasing my paycheck, but he decided to just do it, and I'm thankful for how he has done it, because nobody can deny its of God. 3. The context reveals that anything you sacrifice for the Gospel's sake, wether it be relationships or finances, you will recieve a hundredfold return on that ( thats sacrificing 10 dollars and getting 1000 in return ) you will recieve that hundredfold in this current life, and you inherit eternal life in the one to come. It is Jesus speaking, and he is speaking about anyone who sacrifices these things. And yes, I praise God for what he is doing in my life. He's blessing me in every area, spiritually as well as physically and mentally. I can even testify that my wife was attacked two days ago with what the doctors say is strep throat ( spelling sorry? ) however we stayed on the Word, and what takes they say about 4 weeks to recover from, is taking no more than a couple days! Glory to God Brother! HOpe I answered your questions good enough for you. God Bless, Mitch |

Greetings Mitch! You wrote: "I have no need for any of those mountains to be moved. If I did, then I would move them. Jesus was not calling a fig tree a mountain you know. He was saying that whatever mountain you need moved, whatever obstacle you need removed, you speak to it, as he did the tree. He wasn't talking about a mountain like Mt. McKinley. But he was talking about mountains in the obstacle sense, like we say a 'mountain of debt' " Is that really what Jesus meant? Let's look at the Scripture! Matt. 17:20 - "He replied, ‘‘Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”" Notice that the phrase used is 'this mountain'. Jesus had a very specific mountain in mind. In fact, the Greek text uses a demonstrative pronoun for 'this' mountain. He is not speaking of any old mountain, or even of mountains in general. He is speaking of the mountain they were in fact standing upon. Mt. 17:9 says, "As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, ‘‘Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.” " Where in the text does Jesus speak of anything but an actual mountain? p.s. - I am glad to hear that good things are happening for you and your family. God is good! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

If you think Jesus is only talking about literal mountains, then I'm not sure what to tell you other than I hope then that you beleive a Christian man could walk up to that literal mountain and tell it to move. However, I don't think he's being literal here. I mean can you actually measure faith like you measure a mustard seed? Or could we assume Jesus is using an illustration to make a grander point? Such as he did very often in parables? Mitch |

Greetings Mitch! What do you think Jesus means by the demonstrative pronoun 'this'? Where does Scripture identify this passage as a parable? Finally, yes I do believe that literal mountains can move since Scripture says so. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Well if you think literal mountains can be moved. Good. So do I. Looks like we agree! I wasn't saying this scripture is a parable, but I am saying Jesus is not smiply saying that only that one particular mountain can be moved. He goes on to tell us that whatever we say we shall have. He is not limiting out authority to move that one mountain. And I'm glad you believe literal mountains can be moved. Looks like we agree on that! I'm simply saying, I seriously doubt I can measure faith in a beaker, or with any other instrument. So I know for a fact, Jesus wasn't being literal about that.
9 | What is preaching Christ? | John 7:17 | Morant61 | 167516
Greetings Mitch! I believe that anything is possible in prayer. :-) But, I don't believe that God is some magic lamp that we can rub and get whatever we wish. I have seen miraculous answers to prayer, and I have also seen times where God's will was different than mine. I have seen a blind boy healed. I have seen a broken bone mended on the spot. I have also lost a son to congenital heart defects when it was not God's will to heal him (at least physically). As to measuring faith, I don't think that we can put it on a scale or in a beaker, but it certainly can be quantified. Scripture refers to 'little faith'. It refers to 'great faith'. It also refers to 'no faith'. So, I would certainly say that faith can be measured. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I know faith can be measured, but you can't measure it like you measure a mustard seed. Thats all I'm saying there, you say he only means literal mountains, then why don't you say he means litterally measuring your faith like you measure a seed? I am sorry to hear about your loss, and I am even more sorry to hear that you believe it was not God's will to heal your son. I never said God is a magical lamp either. I simply say that whatever his will is, thats what I want in my life. And healing is his will. AGain, I am sorry for the loss of your son, I hope that in time you are emotionally healed from that experience, and realize God did not take him, satan is the one who kills steals and destroys. God Bless you brother, Mitch |

Greetings Mitch! I appreciate the kind thoughts my friend, but I don't need emotional healing. :-) I am very comfortable in my faith and trust in God. I prayed for my son's healing and God did heal him - completely, by taking him home. I will see him again one day. Though I grief his loss in our lives, I never have lost my trust in God. :-) I too agree that God heals, but there is no Scripture that says this is always His will. Satan did not overpower God and thwart His will and take my son. God accomplished His will. I remember praying with a man in our church who had suffered a severe heart attack and was comatose. (Sp?) His entire family and I had prayed repeatedly that God would heal him, but nothing seemed to change for several weeks. Finally, as the family was preparing to leave one night, I went to his wife and asked her if it was time to let her husband go home. She agreed and we all gathered around the bed and prayed that God would take him home if that was His will. He immediately stopped breathing and died. The family had such a wonderful peace about it. I really believe that God had simply given them a couple of weeks to prepare for their loss. Does God heal? Yes! Is it always His will to heal? There is no Scripture that says this! Do you believe God's will in heaven is for people to die? Do you think he wants death to take place in heaven? HOw about 1 Peter 2:24 that says by the stripes of Jesus we are healed? Its found in Isaiah as well, I know you know that. Also part of Isiah is quoted in the Gospel, you know that as well. That shows its God's will to heal. Where can you find that shows its not always his will? Again I ask, if we are to pray Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Are we to think that sometimes he wants people to die in heaven? And would you ever pray repetedly for God to grant you salvation, or do you think that you only have to pray that one time? Do you think a person has to get up every morning, and become born again , again? Also, if at times its God's will to kill, then we can say that Satan does the work of God, correct? Just some thoughts, Mitch |
