Greetings Mark! You closed your post with the following: "All in all, to me it seems axiomatic that the Holy Spirit's written and spoken revelations will always bear each other out." I would certainly agree, but this presumes that: a) The person is telling the truth about their experience. b) The person really had an experience with the Holy Spirit. c) The person correctly understood said experience. There may be others, but the above observations are excellent examples for why Scripture must take priority over any 'claimed' experience. :-) As always, I enjoy your posts my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hi Tim, I've been waiting for you to join us :-) It certainly does presume all of these things, and that is why I so richly value the written Word above all. The Word is objective, while my inner experience is not. If I, or someone else, has some experience, I like to ask: Does it conform to the Word? Does it glory Jesus? Does it make me more like Jesus? Does it build up the body of Jesus? Yes answers to all of these go a long way towards my saying "Maybe, maybe, that was from the Lord." Thank you for bringing this out! :-) Love in Christ, Mark |
