I, too, am a member of one of the largest Pentacostal denominations in the country. Perhaps we are both members of the same denomination? My church is called "Believers' Tabernacle," and it is an Assembly of God Church. We experience the rich anointed presence of God regularly, and we do not take it lightly. We are humbled to be so blessed. It is an answer to prayer. Janae |

Janae: I truly enjoy hearing from you. Please understand that I am not against you. But there are still questions I've asked you that remain unanswered. You write: 'There are different types of anointing. One type of anointing is when a person places oil on their finger and touches it to your head and prays for you. That touching is called being anointed with oil. That is the anointing the Bible is referring to... 'But, there is another type of anointing that comes when God pours out His Spirit.' So it seems that you are saying: [] There are at least two different types of anointing. [] One is the anointing the Bible is referring to. [] The other is the type of anointing that the Bible does not refer to. I am not interested in the type that is not mentioned or taught in the Bible. Again I ask you: Where in the New Testament are the words "filled with the Spirit" and "anointed" or "anointing" mentioned together? This is the third time I have asked you to back up your assertion with Scripture. So far, you have told me only what your church and experience teaches. But where does it SAY that in the Bible? I, too, am a member of an Assemblies of God church. However, though I have great respect for the leadership of our denomination, the Bible, not the AG organization, is the sole and sufficient rule of faith for the Christian Church. I know I have left questions unanswered. I did that intentionally because they were trick questions. I know what the Bible says about anointing. I also know what happens when the Holy Spirit shows up at your church service; or, what it is like to have your ministry or your song anointed by the Holy Spirit. I know what it is like to be healed. I know what it is like to see into the spirit realm. These are the things of God which must be experienced to be fully understood. God teaches/reaches us through His Word, yes, but He also teaches/reaches us through Holy Spirit revelation. Let me ask you something. Do you fast and pray? Do you experience Holy Spirit revelation in that way? Janae Janae |

Greetings Janae! How is asking for the scriptural support for something a 'trick' question? :-) If something isn't taught in Scripture, I would not accept it no matter what someone's exerience. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Hello, Tim. I did get a check in my spirit when I wrote that about the "trick question." I know that Kalos was trying to get me to say that the type of anointing I was refering to was not in the Bible. But, just because it does not lay it out plainly does not mean it is not "in the Bible." God pours out his Spirit all through Acts. For example, the word that Peter spoke in Acts 2 was anointed. The anointing breaks the yoke. God's Word is anointed. I hope you know that I do not think I am better than you because I have had these experiences. I just feel grateful to have had them, and spiritual things seem quite normal to me. We are all at different places in our walk with Christ, and maybe God brought me to this board to make you think about the Holy Spirit more. He is a real person and He does guide us into all truth. God's Word is true, yes; but, so is Holy Spirit revelation. Janae |

Janae, have you ever asked yourself why Jesus healed and performed other signs and miracles and why God poured out His Spirit all through the Book of Acts? Do you know the answers to those questions? --Hank | ||||||

Hello, Hank. I have had a night to rest from my assault I took here yesterday, so I am ready to continue. The reason I believe Jesus healed and performed other signs and miracles was twofold. First of all, I believe he wanted to get (and hold) their attention. But, God WANTED TO HEAL--Jesus healed EVERYONE THAT CAME TO HIM--He turned no one away. The reason God poured out His Spirit through the Book of Acts is because of this: John 14:16: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" God was starting the Church in Acts. That is my opinion. What is yours? Janae |

Greetings Janae! I hope you don't feel assulted my friend! :-) There is a good lesson to be learned from your experience. It is very important to use proper and Biblical terminology when communicating with others. Brother Mark has already pointed out that you may have been refering to Acts 4:31. If so, a better way to phrase what you were saying may have been, "When I sing, the Holy Spirit shakes the places!" :-) I doubt that anyone would have had a problem with that statement, but I may have been surprised - one never knows on a public forum. Anyway, welcome to the forum! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
