1 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Morant61 | 29856
Greetings Ethan! At the risk of speaking for others, but may I address what I think the problem is? I don't think anyone is upset because of what you heard. I think they are upset because one person on a chat room does not speak for the entire Mormon cult. Concerning your point about English, you own illustrations demonstrates that Greek is far more descriptive than English. :-) One Greek word can say more than 20 English words! Why? Because there is so much more meaning packed into a Greek word. It is a fascinating language for precisely this reason! I hope you have a great New Year! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I heard the reason Greek is more prescise is different words convey precise meaning, like define agape love. Even love in English isn't defined, I love my car, I love cake, I love my child, I love my man, I love TV, I love that red dress-none of this is agape. :)
4 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | ethan | 30082
yes we can define the way love is used by our expression. Jesus asked Peter three time do you love me with Gods love and Peter replied yes i love you as a friend three times. in that respect to do the same in english more PRECISE words have to be used and in english we are able to explain in greater detail. We know that you are not going to love your car the same way you love your man and you love your child in a different way from your man. well that is why we can go into depth with the english. If we didnt have the benchmark of the english language we would not understand the complexity of the other languages. The way english works is that we can. There is more than one word for love in the greek as well, which covers, from God to sex in erotic circmstances. i think four. i know that the greek is a very rich language i never disputed that.Due to the english language because it can be so precise, explains and breaks down the greek etc. so that we gain a fuller understanding of it. that is my point. We have the capability in english to pull down words to their core and put them back to gether to understand all the other languages because in the english we have named everything on the earth. that has not happened in the Greek or Hebrew as God had said to Adam, although Adam named all the animals. Bless you. |

What do you mean? Are you saying that Spanish Bible is translated from English instead of original language? I would think they should all go back to original language, otherwise, there's too much room for error.

YEP! you had better check your source. why do you think there is so many differnt versions? King James is english. the old testement was first translated into greek because of Alexander the Great conquering the world. So that the Christians had the old testement to read. i have been told, i have not been able to prove this as yet, the the amplified, the NIV and the King james, OLD, are the only three versions that are translated from the original. all others are mens translations in a differnt train of thought.from what i dont know . Which can be Good because we all see God in a different aspect because Psalms 18:25,26 God is all things to all people. but if you look at the front of the bible it should tell you how it was translated and by whom. Bless you. so if you are really worried you can prove me wrong. but please give me proof.LOL :) |
