Subject: Please explain the Trinity. |
Bible Note: Truthstudent: The analogy of the egg would hold up fine but for one stubborn fact. The shell, yolk and white when extracted from the egg are no longer "fully egg" but merely parts of it; when you separate the three component parts of an egg, you no longer have one egg, much less three complete eggs.... In the Christian doctrine of the Trinity there is one God in three Persons. The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. There is a distinction between the Persons so that the Father is not the Son, the Father is not the Spirit, and the Son is not the Spirit. Each is a Person..... Pagan religions often accuse Christians of practicing polytheism, saying we worship three gods. But that is tritheism, an heretical doctrine, and not Triunity, an orthodox doctrine. I know of no one who has ever successfully "explained" the Trinity, though countless attempts have been made. But Scripture teaches it and the overwhelming majority of Christians, who walk by faith and not by sight, believe it. God is transcendent. "To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him?" (Isaiah 40:18). |
