1 | What makes Christianity different | John 14:6 | Reformer Joe | 54894
Hi, Johnny. Paul answers your question in his epistle to the Romans: 'But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED." That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.' --Romans 9:6-8 We see that the seed referred to is not all of the descendents of Abraham. Paul goes on to show that the Ishmaelites (descendents of Ishmael) and Edomites (descendents of Esau), although physical descendents of Abraham, were not in view of the covenant promises of God. Paul goes on to talk about a partial hardening of the ethnic nation of Israel, and olive shoots being broken off of the tree of promise, while Gentile believers have been grafted in as wild olive shoots into the tree and are partaking of God's promises to Abraham through Christ. The Spirit goes on to say: 'For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery--so that you will not be wise in your own estimation--that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." "THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS."' --Romans 11:25-27 Therefore, as Galatians 3:28-29 says, we are children of Abraham according to the promise, but apparently God is not done dealing with the ethnic Jews yet, either. When the "fulness of the Gentiles" has been reached, then God will graft the natural branches on again. Of course, this does not mean that there are two plans of salvation. Just as every individual Old Testament Israelite was not saved, so every Jew living today is not guaranteed a place in heaven. Salvation for them, like for Gentiles, is by God's grace through faith in Christ. One could say, looking back at Romans 9 and Galatians 3, that "spiritual Israel" consists of " even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles." (Romans 9:24) God will keep his covenant with Abraham and with his Seed, Christ (Galatians 3:16). And it seems that before the end many more ethnic Jews will find their Messiah. --Joe! |

2 | What makes Christianity different | John 14:6 | jlpangilinan | 54922
My point really in asking those verse to new creature is that it is not in our part to judge other religion. It is God has the final judgement. He is the only one can justify all things happened in this world. There are people we can consider is a victim of thier own culture, meaning they have no resort of finding a true religion but to accepted what they have in thier country. Some of them if they try to go to other religion (Christianity) they punished to death. But I am sure God can justify that kind of situation. It is not us to judge that because they are not Christian they belong to hell. As Paul said: Ro 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Ro 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another. These verse would be applicable to them. Thanks for the comment. God bless, Johnny |

You wrote: "My point really in asking those verse to new creature is that it is not in our part to judge other religion. It is God has the final judgement." And He has already rendered that judgment. "There are people we can consider is a victim of thier own culture, meaning they have no resort of finding a true religion but to accepted what they have in thier country." Then they go to hell. Romans 1:18 ff. "Some of them if they try to go to other religion (Christianity) they punished to death." Jesus answered this one, too: "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." --Matthew 10:28 "He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal." --John 12:25 God never promised that embracing Christ would be safe. All of the apostles found out that it wasn't, as do many martyrs in our own day around the world. Jesus calls us all to die, Johnny: " Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me." --Matthew 16:24 You quoted Romans 2:14-15, but you missed Paul's point: "For there is no partiality with God. For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified." --Romans 2:11-13 All have sinned, so where is the hope for the Gentile or the Jew here apart from Christ. Gentiles will perish without the law, and Jews will be judged by the law. The conscience of the Gentiles, the moral sense given to them by God, condemns them as violators of God's moral will. No hope without Christ. Absolutely none. All stand guilty, the church attender and the ignorant savage who never has even heard the name Jesus. Period. Romans 3:23-24. Acts 4:12. To say that there is the thinnest shred of hope outside of Christ makes evangelism and missions absolutely unnecessary, and denies the entire doctrine of justification by faith. God will reach those he will save with the message of Christ. 'For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?" So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.' --Romans 10:12-17 --Joe! |
