1 | Once saved, aways saved doctrine refuted | Matt 10:1 | Grace and Truth | 53928
Your points are well taken, but you must observe what the text says, Acts 4:32 lets us know that the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: vs 33 and great grace was upon them all. Vs.34-5:1-11 there is not break in the story when you enter chapter 5, the Holy Spirit allowed Peter to know the heart of Ananias and his wife, they were made an example to others so that others would not tempt the Holy Spirit. Your first point is also well taken, but Judas was choosen to be an apostle, John 15:16, Matt 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh (in you). The Spirit was working in them at this time, although it was temptary. |

Dear Grace and Truth, I appreciate your response. Again, maybe some clarification is needed. I concur that Acts 4:32 details the sharing among the believers, leading into Chap. 5 which brings forth the fate of Ananias and Sapphira. However, to directly infer they were "believers" is left unknown. Scripture does not give us a definitive answer. We could assume, but... As far as your references of John 15:16 and Matt. 10:20, I don't believe they are ample to support Judas' being a believer. The chosen apostles are listed in Matt. 10:2,3- with a qualifying note regarding Judas, "the one who betrayed Him". In Matt.10:20 it says,"the Spirit OF your Father SPEAKS in you". I does not say THEY were filled with the Spirit! The Spirit had not yet come, and they were not filled with it. See John 14:16-26! Respectfully Yours, BradK |

Let's bring this closer to home! You and I believe that we are saved, right? If I turn from following the Lord and die in sin will I go to heaven?

A regenerate believer is saved and goes to be with the Lord. An unregenerate sinner is not saved and does not go to be with the Lord. Neither the quality nor the quantity of the good works of either has the slightest effect upon his salvation. How many times have I said it before? It is impossible to earn one's way to heaven. By grace are you saved through faith....by grace are you saved through faith....(one more time for the west coast).... by grace are you saved through faith. --Hank
