God bless you all take care and remember you are accountable first to the Lord He is the one sees the intention of our hearts ...-Jeshuafreak *******Answer: Yes, I have been forgiven as well. All of God's people have been forgiven. However, you are saying that the thief on the cross was forgiven without any atonement being made for his acts of rebellion against an infinitely holy God. You are saying that God, who is perfectly just, whose eyes are too pure to look on evil (Habakkuk 1:13), simply shrugged his shoulders and said "Okay, you are forgiven; no sacrifice necessary." Wow, I wish Jesus had known how easy that would be! Then he would have NEVER had to come to earth and die for ANYONE. He could have just shown up and said, "Everyone's forgiven! I am going home!" How cruel of his Father to let him think that he would actually have to DIE and face God's infinite and holy wrath when it was completely unnecessary! Remission of sins without the shedding of blood! I am going to go clip Hebrews 9:22 out of my Bible right now! Little tip: Go read Romans 3:19-26. Although your eyes are blinded by Satan, you will see in the last verse how Christ' death was the grounds for our justification, so that God would be at the same time JUST and the JUSTIFIER of the one who has faith in Jesus. Leaving the sins of the thief unanswered for would not have been just, and it is thanks to Christ's sinless life and substitutionary death that EVERYONE who has ever been justified has been justified. Jesus died for the sins of Abraham and David and the thief on the cross and Peter and Paul and me. Any other scenario is (a) unbiblical and (b) ultimately makes Jesus' death an unnecessary one. --Joe! |

2 | Are you refering to the thief ? | Matt 10:1 | bubbatate | 54179
Dear J.F. Since there's a lot of "thief" discussion going on lately, have ya'll noticed: Mt 27:44 In the same way the ROBBERS (PLURAL; SEE V 38) who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him. MK 15:32 Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." THOSE (PLURAL, SEE V 27) crucified with him also heaped insults on him. LK 23:39 ONE (SINGULAR) OF THE CRIMINALS who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" [40] But the OTHER (SINGULAR) criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? [41] We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." [42] Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. " [43] Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." John, the only one who attests to having been at the crucifixion, is silent on the thief matter. Does anyone have a rational take on this conundrum? I need an intelligent explanation…..I’ve heard all the stupid ones. I can’t understand why the repentant thief episode was not deemed worthy of mention in three of the gospels, and in fact is contradicted in two of them……(please no “he repented later” responses…..two of the gospel writers clearly leave us believing that there was no repentance.) Thanks......Bub |

Ahhh...careful! Denying the authenticity of Scripture is the path to the exit door. The gospels are harmonious unless you start making arguments from silence. If we start looking at all four gospels documenting an event, then there is a great deal surrounding Jesus' life that suddenly becomes "suspect." Was he even born? After all, Mark and John make no mention of his birth, so maybe he wasn't born at all! See how ridiculous things can get if we take your criteria to its extreme? --Joe! |

4 | Are you refering to the thief ? | Matt 10:1 | bubbatate | 54189
Joe..... All the critical information I need to defend Y'shua, that He lived, died and rose again, and that He redeemed through His blood and that He will return are all documented in the Revelation......written under orders to do so. Revelation is a "thus saith the LORD". How do you account for the poor journalism exhibited in the aforementioned passages? Singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb.....Bub |

Does this mean that you are going on record as denying the inspiration and infallibility of the New Testament, or at least a part of it? Please read Lockman's guidelines as you review your reply. --Joe! |
