1 | Did Shem exit the Ark at 98, outlv Abrm? | Gen 11:10 | New Creature | 140616 | ||
Glenn It appears that Jacob was 50 years young when Shem died. I also find that Abraham was 58 years young when Noah died One last fact that I find amazing is that Noah's father Lamech must have personally known Adam. Lamech appears to have been 56 years young when Adam died, and 113 when God translated Enoch. Can you imagine how the accounts about the building of the ark, the the wickedness of men and the flood as well as the account of how God took Enoch were being taught to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Hello New Creature, This shows that the accounts of the fall of man and the great flood were probably taught by first, second, and third hand knowledge. This means that information was not passed through many, many generations, as is generally thought. I find this amazing. However, I am looking forward to EdB's reply on descrepacies with outside sources. Your brother in Christ, Pastor Glenn |

Glenn Interestingly there are over 500 Flood legends worldwide. Ancient civilizations such as (China, Babylonia, Wales, Russia, India, America, Hawaii, Scandinavia, Sumatra, Peru, and Polynesia) all have their own versions of a giant flood. These flood tales are frequently linked by common elements that parallel the Biblical account including the warning of the coming flood, the construction of a boat in advance, the storage of animals, the inclusion of family, and the release of birds to determine if the water level had subsided.
