Pastor Glenn You missed my point. The accounting of Genealogy given in Genesis was never given to establish a date since there was never a beginning date given. All it shows is how many generations occurred between this character of the Bible and the next. However if we take an established beginning date such as the reign of Solomon and then use the Bible’s account of the number of generations based on age at death and births. And working back through the generations from Solomon we can place actual dates to various births and deaths so recorded. Reese doing this (I suppose) declares Shem died at or around the time of Jacobs birth. However you working strictly on the age at conception and death going forward from Adam place Jacob at about 50 years old at the time of Shem's death. That difference is approximately one generation. Let’s just for the sake of argument add that one generation (Cainan) to the mix. What do we find? Both you and Reese would be agreement. Interesting isn’t it? I’m not trying to modify the Bible I’m just showing that from the time or Adam based on age at conception of offspring and age at death we fall one generation short of the actual recorded history. Then I ask the question could the “second” Cainan be that lost generation. EdB |

EdB, I wanted to thank you for engaging me in this thread, as I have really learned a lot. I certainly knew nothing about the second Cainan. I hope that I have not said anything offensive. If I ever do, please excuse me. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Pastor Glenn No problem at all. I intended to pull out of this thread about three days ago but between your input/questions and Greenwiga's I found it captivating. EdB |
