How ever, God said that he sent his son Jesus for the WORLD.(john 3:16) He also says it is his will that all should come to him.( John 6:35-40) It sounds to me like God wants no one to spend eternity away from Him. When someone askes me "If the Gospel alone saves, then what about the heathen in Africa who never heard?," I respond first with, God is merciful, and He has a plan for them. And next with, What does it matter? You have heard the Gospel and now are presented with a choice... What will/have you choose/chosen?. God bless you , CoG1988 |

Hi, CoG... Nice thought, but I can unequivocally assure you there are those who God doesn't want in His presence (Jeremiah 15:1-4; Zechariah 11:8-9; Revelation 3:16; etc. etc.). Now, that doesn't mean that the rest of us our sweet, little, lovable fur-balls. God effectually draws His elect to Himself, through faith alone, by grace alone, by the atonement of Christ alone, to God's glory alone. I think you confuse the free offer of the gospel with God's eternal purpose. Salvation is through no other than Jesus Christ. If the heathen in Africa is to be saved, nothing on earth, under earth, or above the earth will prevent his hearing the gospel. He'll hear the gospel. More than that, the Holy Spirit will enable his ability to respond. Then the Holy Spirit will daily and continually cause him to grow in Christ-likeness, and raise him to glory. Our God doesn't shoot blanks, no matter what kind of hypothetical questions we ask. In Him, Doc |

Thomas, it is essential that we look at each of these verses in context. To do that it is necessary to read each of these books. Also a study on Jeremiah and Zechariah - God's prophets is essential. Understanding these books and their themes takes quite a bit of time and focused attention. It is well worth it though as they were written for our learning. No matter how much we learn from other people we must also be willing first to study the scriptures for ourselves. Prayer, scripture, a concordance, a bible dictionary and after all this then commentaries. Blessings Val | ||||||
