1 | Is there middle ground? | Romans | userdoe220 | 21714 | ||
Calvanism equals all things Arminianism equals some things Calvminian equals most things. The middle between "all" and "some" is "most" :-) Just trying to be funny. |

Greetings Schwartzkm! Pretty good! :-) The following comments are meant for everyone discusing this thread: I have been thinking about the whole issue of middle ground. The way I see it (and I could be wrong), there are only four logical positions concerning salvation. 1) No one is saved, everyone is lost! 2) Some are saved, some are lost - by God's decree! 3) Some are saved, some are lost - by man's choice! (I really don't like this phrase, but I use it for the sake of contrast with number 2.) 4) Everyone is saved, no one is lost! Options 1 and 4 are clearly not Biblical. Options 2 and 3 are basically Calvinism and Arminianism. The real difference between these two options is simple. Option 2 says that God did not want to save everybody, so He only saved some! Option 3 says that God wanted to save everyone, but not everyone accepted the gift! If this is true, I have to agree with Lionstrong and Joe that there really can't be a middle ground. One is right and one is wrong! We may disagree on the forum as to which one is which, but can there really be any middle position? If there is, I would love to hear what it is? I would agree with you on this issue. that was my poor attempt at humor. I know Geisler has attempted to strike a "middle" ground position in this debate in his book, Chosen but Free. I know Lionstrong did not like the book and I felt Geisler was attempting to merge Calvanism with Armenian but nevertheless at least he recognizes the difficulties present in this debate. |

Greetings Schwartzkm! I never said it was poor attempt! :-) I thought it was kind a funny! I wasn't address you in particular. I just keep hearing this phrase "middle ground", but I've never yet seen anything that could be such a thing. I'm not familiar with Geisler's book, but i plan on ordering it. My "middle ground" is based on Robert Shank's book "Elect in the Son." Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I will check the book out. I have promised Lionstrong that I would read White's book and I might as well add another one to the list. |
