Plus, didn't Jesus commit His spirit to the Father? Then, how ... why did He go to Hell. Plus, wasn't His body was in the earth for 3 days / nights? How do you know Hell is in the center of the earth? |

Hi Searcher, His body was in a cave tomb. That being a tomb,is still buried and if there were no other verses to compare with, this conclusion could be argued. But the problem I see here is that scripture states Jesus went to Hell in Acts 2. Prophesy fortold it and prophesy, according to Acts 2, was fulfilled. Jesus did say "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." Luke 23:46 Look at 'commend' in Strong's #3908 It means to entrust, to deposit, commit to one's charge. May I suggest that this is not saying Jesus'spirit went to Heaven. Rather it means He entrusted His spirit to God the Father. He had completed His task and now the Father would be the one who confirmed Him. God indeed confirmed Him by raising Jesus on the third day. Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. God bless |

graceful, On a side note: it appears that Jesus was again praying the Psalms just as he was when He said My God, my god, why have you forsaken me?" praying Pslam 22. Ps 31:5 "Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth." Emmaus |
