I like the Amplified rendition that you posted Amplified. For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him SHALL NOT perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. The clinging that is mentioned here is what I tried to somewhat speak about in my last reply. The clinging to Him is partially our responsibility. |

New Creature: I welcome you to the Forum. Your questions and answers also are welcome here. I bear you nothing but good will. So please do not think I am being unkind or rude, for such is not my intention. By searching the archives for my previous postings, I have found more than 225 Questions, Answers and Notes I have written regarding Eternal Security. Keywords used in my searches include: "Heb 6:4," "security," "once saved always saved," "sole condition," "election," "aposta" (which will find entries containing both "apostasy" and "apostate"), and "lose" and "salvation" together. Having submitted more than 225 postings on Eternal Security, I feel I have said all that I will ever have to say on the subject. I commend you for the courtesy you have displayed throughout this thread. I also commend you in your diligence in this matter. For whenever one defends their position, in the process they gain more knowledge about both sides of an issue. Up to a certain point in these debates, there is much to be learned about the issues by all concerned. Thus a debate carried on in a spirit of love, humility and mutual respect can be both healthy and profitable. Finally, the security of the believer is not an issue that should divide Christians. I will never be convinced that it is possible for one who has received salvation by faith to lose his salvation. Yet, I would not say that anyone who disagrees is not saved. Good and honest Christians, past and present, have disagreed over this issue for centuries. It would be a mistake to pronounce eternal condemnation and destruction on the proponents of one side or the other. And always remember: Once we have discovered the truth of a thing in the Bible, we never stand in judgment of the truth. It stands in judgment of us. Grace to you, kalos |

Kalos, Amen to that. However you stated: "I will never be convinced that it is possible for one who has received salvation by faith to lose his salvation." To that I say: Never say never Thank you also for the kind words and the spirit of love demonstrated in your reply |
