Doc That is a very formal term used almost exclusively in most of the best theological circles. Actually I made it up but it does kind of have a nice ring don’t you think? :-) What I was trying to express is the verbal perpetuation of the oral teachings received directly from the apostles. These were later recorded in various writings of the church fathers that most people never consider to consult. Men like Polycarp and his prodigies St. Irenaeus and Papias and others like St. Jerome, Eusebius, Photius men that had first or second hand contact with the Apostles. EdB |

Dear Brother Ed, It is an honor to have this little insight into those theological circles which normally can only be seen dimly in the great distance, so far are they from our lowly statiion in life! :-) Seriously, though, thank you for explaining.
