Jcsav Pentecostals vary in how they view receiving the Holy Spirit and sadly many aren't real sure, and many are in error. I believe we receive the Holy Spirit upon salvation. As far as the public manifestations of the Holy Spirit they appear in our lives in God's timing as we learn to yield to the Holy Spirit. The sign gifts are given for one reason and one reason only and that is to testify to Jesus' power and might before unbelievers. The other manifestations are also present but again remain dormant until we learn to yield to the Holy Spirits leading. they are used to help in our spiritual journey through life and assist the church when assistance is needed. I do believe we also receive private manifestations normally called a prayer language. This again is given at salvation but only becomes evident in our lives as we learn to yield to the Holy Spirit as we surrender ourselves in prayer. Many beleive that these are added blessing or gifts and I do not. I believe they are all part of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in each of us and are manifested when we learn to yield our will to God's. I view them as gifts given, but unopened until we yield our will. EdB |
