1 | Is the rapture biblically supported? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Mommapbs | 132143
Greetings Tim - although I agree with the concept, I can't agree with the promotion of a "catching away" prior to any "tribulation" as prophesied . . . yet I do see this taking place prior to the out pouring of God's wrath upon the earth. (1 Thess 1:10; 5:9) What bothers me is that believers may become disillusioned when these things (events as prophesied up until the vial or bowl judgments) happen upon the earth. I do not want my children to fear, but to patiently stand firm in their faith and wait patiently for the Lord; to not be surprised because Jesus has plainly stated, John 16:33 that we are to expect "tribulation." Indeed, many our our members are enduring persecution, hardship and martyrdom for their faith in Jesus across the globe. They are not being "raptured" out of their "troubles" . . . why is it that western believers think that they will escape and be carried to heaven on a cloud of ease? Most likely because our pulpits have preached this message . . . imo, someone is going to be surprised, may it be me!! Blessings, mommapbs |

2 | Is the rapture biblically supported? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Morant61 | 132155
Greetings Mommapbs! The question was a very limited one, so I intentionally kept my response very limited! :-) I never said anything about 'timing'. My point was simply to demonstrate that Scripture does indeed speak of a 'catching away', or as we commonly call it, a 'rapture'. Now, personally, I agree with you that the rapture will be 'pre-wrath'. In fact, over the years, I have come to believe that it may well be the event mentioned in Rev. 14:14-20. Thus, I would place the timing at the middle of Daniel's 70th week, or 3 1/2 years into the 7 year 'tribultion' (prior to God's wrath, but after much of the tribulation). Thanks Tim! I trust that your preaching is reflective of this! The teaching that my family is exposed to is not in accordance with this position so I do a little "damage control" (using God's Word as my support, I respectfully disagree with the preacher to those under my care) from time to time. Blessings to you and yours, t |

4 | Is the rapture biblically supported? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Morant61 | 132161
Greetings Mommapbs! It is! :-) I adapted some material from John MacArthur this summer and preached a series on finding God's will for your life. The six messages were: It is God's will that you.... 1) Be saved! 2) Be Spirit filled! 3) Be sanctified! 4) Submit! 5) Suffer! 6) "It is God's will that you...." I was filling in for our pastor and I had to 'explain' the sermon on suffering to him! :-) Also, my life experiences have taught me that Christians will certainly face persecution, trials, troubles, and suffering in this life. So, I would never teach any sort of doctrine that would promote the concept that Christians get to escape the 'bad times'. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
