1 | Slain or knocked down | Eph 4:14 | BradK | 103984
khuck, I can certainly understand your apparent concern on this matter. As this question has been asked several times before, I might recommend that you type in the term "slain in the spirit" in the Quick Search box. Specifically, this term and practice is nowhere to be found in scripture! It is more of a "theatrical manifestation" and is at least one of the reasons the warning issued by Paul in 2 Timothy 4:1-4 was written. You'd do well to consider the words of the Apostle Paul as he writes in Eph. 4:14: "As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;" Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Sorry Brad, I did not mean to imply that your references on this matter were false. I agree with all of your assertions and also the search where you directed me, yielded much. After reading the notes I understand why this man would literally shove me with so much force to the floor. (it was certainly a deceitful thing to do) The one post that stood out was that this is a pentecostal practice, and that is the denomination of my family member's church. I really appreciate your assistance, thank you! -Kathy |

Kathy: Slain in the Spirit is not a belief or practice that is followed in all Pentecostal churches. In my own church, Assembly of God, some pastors and congregations may practice it, but many do not. --Radioman2 :-) |

4 | Slain or knocked down | Eph 4:14 | khuck | 103995
Hi Radioman :) I did not mean to imply that is was an isolated Pentecostal practice. (just info gleaned from previous posts) But is it something that crosses denominational lines? Inquiring minds... (smile) -Kathy |

5 | Slain or knocked down | Eph 4:14 | Radioman2 | 103997
Kathy: Yes, "slain in the Spirit" does cross denominational lines. In some cases there are people whose denomination does not teach or practice slain in the Spirit. Yet there may be individuals within those denominations who do practice it. Many groups who practice slain in the Spirit identify themselves as independents or charismatics. It should be noted that Pentecostal and charismatic are two different words with two different meanings. That is, charismatic is not just another way of saying Pentecostal. Not all charismatics are Pentecostals. I am pleased to see that BradK has provided some excellent information regarding this topic. Grace to you, Radioman2 |

6 | Can you define Charismatic | Eph 4:14 | khuck | 104000
Radioman; I have been told that I am a Charismatic Christian, of that I am not sure. I just know that I am a believer. What is the charismatic, really? I have heard it described in so many ways. I do speak in tongues and therefore a member of my Mom's church said that is what I am. I have heard that the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of His gifts warrants the title charismatic. Please explain the term to me if you can. Your in Him, -Kathy |
