AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 4:14 So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]. |
Bible Question:
Radioman; I have been told that I am a Charismatic Christian, of that I am not sure. I just know that I am a believer. What is the charismatic, really? I have heard it described in so many ways. I do speak in tongues and therefore a member of my Mom's church said that is what I am. I have heard that the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of His gifts warrants the title charismatic. Please explain the term to me if you can. Your in Him, -Kathy |
Bible Answer: Word Study ... Charisma ... Charis ............ Kathy, While we label a group as Charismatics, we can (should) say we all are charismatic. The Greek word charisma and means grace. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift (charisma) of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 6:23). And since we have gifts (charisma) that differ according to the grace (charis ... charisma is from) given to us, let each exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith (Rom 12:6). It is the word used for gifts in 1 Corinthians 12. The group labeled as Charismatics make many claims ... some which have been proven to be not Biblical. I'll leave it there. As far as being "slain in the Spirit" the following articles may shed some light: http://www.geocities.com/slain_ark/ http://www.christiancourier.com/penpoints/spiritSlain.htm ... this is another example of abusing Scripture. All I need to do is to show one Biblical instance where an encounter with the Lord didn't cause falling to the ground. Read Matthew 19:13-15 - the children didn't fall to the ground. Nor did Samson's parents (Jud 13:2-22). Searcher |
