1 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | Bill Mc | 15157
Dear Sister, I said what I said because I don't believe you understand what salvation really is. Did you read my other post? I agree, 'No unclean thing shall enter the kingdom of heaven.' So, the question is, did Christ make you clean or not? See Hebrews 7:25 - He saves us FOREVER. Ezekiel 18, while being holy scripture, is written to the house of Israel. Are you under the New Covenant or the Old, Sister? Dear one, if you think you are 'prone to lose your salvation' or 'prone to lose out with God' you have become victim to some erroneous teaching. Proof of this is in your statement, "if we turn from our righteousness..." That is exactly what Christ wanted the Pharisees to turn from. We have no righteousness. Our righteousness is God's righteousness - 'the righteousness that is FROM God' and it is a gift, it can't be earned. If you are IN CHRIST, you are His righteousness before God. So, Sister D, would you be so kind as to answer my question? What are you saved from? How can eternal life be eternal if it can be lost? In Him, Bill Mc |

2 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | SisterD | 15169
God wanted the Pharisees to turn from their "self righteous attitude" I am not self righteous...I KNOW that with out God I am LOST and undone and headed straight for a devils hell. It's GOD in us that works thru us to live the christian life...IF we are a willing vessel.....not our works...not our righteousness BUT HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS and HIS ALONE.....(we are nothen without him...BUT thru Him we are every thing He is... So you are tellen me that a person can except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, repent of their sins, and turn around and live as they did just prior to their new conversion in to the family of God (backslide) and still be saved and enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I think not!!! As for what am I saved from...from the live of sin and death thru Jesus Christ our Lord. Yes no man is perfect and all have and will sin....BUT....its what we chose to do about that sin...that determines our finaly resting place. We CAN NOT profess to be "CHRISTAIN" a child of God and live our lives like we are satans own...we must love one and hate the other....sweet and bitter water do not run from the same facuet...good and evil have no company with each other....you are either a child of God and live as such or you are a child of satan.... the enemy of our souls and live as such...but we can not have BOTH.... if we willfully sin we have an advocate with the father...if we repent from the heart he is faithfull and just to forgive us and if we do not find that place of repentence we will die in our sins. The wages of sin is DEATH; but the gift of God is eternal life throught JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. We can chose to walk away from that gift of eternal life at any time and live as WE please and not as God pleases...we are not able to live a christian live without GOD"S HELP...we must surrender our selves to him and live as he would have us to as to the best of our ability and as we grow in God thru the power of the Holy Ghost....we WILL take on the nature/bahavior that of Holiness and sin will be an easier thing to walk away from....yes again ALL have and will sin in some degree BUT how we respon to the sin is the key to life or death. Life with God or life with out God....For the wages of sin is DEATH....but the GIFT of God is eternal life THRU Jesus Christ OUR LORD...not thru our rebelling against God....It's either Heaven or its Hell...you can not have both now and receive heaven in the end. You know we all have our own minds and points of view and our degree of faith and beleif. I beleif the entire bible to be the word of God and I look to it as our road map to salvation...if we live as we are taught by God thru his teachings (the word) and aply them on a daily bases and seek Him for guidence and help and direction and ask for understanding and wisdom, he will give all of these tings to us and then some..... But the MOST important key to the life of being a child of God his help for the working of our salvation (he says to work out your own salvation with trembling and fear) not work as to deeds or fear as to affraid of God....meaning...study to show thy self approved...rightly dividing the word of God and with out the Holy Ghost we can do NONE of these thing as God would have us to....with out the Holy Ghost dwelling on the inside of us we will not make it to that promise land. He that is born of the flesh is flesh and he that is born of the Spirit is Spirit.(John 3;6) (Romans 8:13) (Galatians 5:16-26). By the way what type church do you attend if I may ask. If any. I go to the First United Penticostal Church in my home town. |

You write: "So you are tellen me that a person can except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, repent of their sins, and turn around and live as they did just prior to their new conversion in to the family of God (backslide) and still be saved and enter the Kingdom of Heaven." Where did you ever hear anyone make such a statement? People who *properly understand* the doctrine of Eternal Security would never make such an outrageous statement. People who do not *properly understand* the doctrine had best keep their comments to themselves until they know what they are talking about. Every man has a right to his own opinion; but no man has the right to be wrong in his facts. This forum has been active for 200 days. In that time 2,936 registered users have submitted a total of 14,412 postings. To my knowledge you are one of the few people ever to have made such an assertion here. Normally, it is the opponents, not the proponents, of Eternal Security who trot out this outlandish interpretation of the doctrine when the subject comes up. |

4 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | SisterD | 15182
I beleive God is faithfull and just to forgive us of our sins...IF we repent. God is not gonna forse himself on no man... He is patient and long suffering....and not willing that any should parish...but that all come to repentence. Eternal salvation gives the empresion that people can live any ole way they want and still make it to heaven and that is not so. We are just as free to give up the gift of salvation as we are free to give up/back a gift a person gives us. Again..that goes back to the fact that God is not gonna forse himself on NO MAN. I will say no more...this is the end of the subjest for me. We all beleive what we beleive to be the truth and opions vary just as much as people do. There may of been others that feel the same as I do....about eternal salvation...only not haven enough nerve to voice their mind so openly. God's desire is for all to come to the knowledge of his saving grace and stay in it.... |

5 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | Radioman | 15196
I'll say it again, this time more slowly. Scripture abundantly affirms the Christian's eternal security. See Jn3:15-16, 36; 10:27-30; Rom 8:35,37-39; Eph 1:12-14; 4:30; Phil 1:6; Heb 10:12-14; 1 Pet 1:3-5" In a debate, it is useful if you respond to the points that the other side makes. I will interact with anyone who has a specific comment or question about the passage(s) in question. I will not respond to questions or posts that stray away from the specific passage(s) being discussed. |
