1 | Once Save; Always Saved? | John 6:37 | SisterD | 15052
Once saved...always saved. I think not. If we are to beleive the whole bible. Then clearly in Ezekiel 18: 20-32...clearly states what will happen to those who willfull turna nd walk away from God. He also states in 2 Corinithians 6:17, as to what we are to do in order to BE SAVED. Yes He will not leave us...BUT we can leave him. I'm so bibles scolar but I know in his word he also states that...NO UNCLEAN thing shall enter the Kingdom of heaven. And what is unclean...a back slider. God also says in his word that "It is far better NOT to of known him...then to know him and walked away. (2 Peter 2:21-22.) Also read all of 2 Peter 2. God is full of mercy and grace. But is a righteous man turneth from his righteousness shall he be saved...surely not...he shall surely die. (Eze.18:20-32) Please "KEEP LOOKEN UNTO JESUS, WHO IS THE AURTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH". Don't be fooled in to beleiving a lie. Once saved always saved is NOT so... |

2 | Once Save; Always Saved? | John 6:37 | doug619 | 15423
The unforgivable sin........ We talk so much about eternal security. Jesus said it best when he talked about the unforgivable sin. He said...... Matt 12:31-32 31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. (KJV) I hear so many so many say that if you lie, covet, commit fornication, don't go to church, don't live right, kill, steal,etc.,etc.,etc.,etc.,etc., you will go to hell. That is not what Jesus said. What is "blasphemy against the Holy Ghost"? The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one. If you speak against one, you speak against all and blasphemy against the Son shall be forgiven. He must be referring, then, to the work of the Holy Ghost. His work is to convict you and tell you that you are lost and need a savior. If you reject salvation, you have blasphemed the Holy Ghost. This sin will never be forgiven. What about other sins? "All mannner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men" (vs. 31). These are the words of Jesus. I put my trust in him, not in man-made doctrines and doctrines of devils (Matt. 15:7-9,1 Tim. 4:1).......... Have you?????????? |

Greetings Doug! Great comments! A similar take I have heard on this passage is that the blasphemy was that the Pharisees were attributing the Holy Spirit's work to Satan. A couple of contextual points would seem to bear this out. 1) In Mt. 12:24, the Pharisees say, "....It is only by Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons." 2) Mt. 12:25-29 deals with how demons are driven out. 3) Mt. 12:32 deals with sins of speech. 4) Mt. 12:34 deals with words spoken from the overflow of the heart. 5) Finally, Mt. 12:36-37 deals with being judged for idle words. All of these contextual points seem to indicate that the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is what the Pharisees were doing in Mt. 12:24, when they claimed that the Holy Spirit's work was done by the power of Satan. Tim, You are correct. They were guilty of blasphemy, but it was a blasphemy that could be forgiven. When they said "this fellow doth not cast devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of devils", they were calling Jesus a Satan worshipper. In this, they blasphemed him. They were also saying that his authority and his power were from Satan. In this, they blasphemed the Father and the Holy Spirit as well. Jesus said "And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him:". He goes on to say "but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him,". Is there something the Holy Spirit does independently of the Father and Son? The answer is yes! John 16:7-11 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. (KJV) His work is to reprove of sin. "Of sin, because they believe not on me". He speaks to the heart of someone who is lost and tells them they need a savior........."because they believe not on me". Rejection of Salvation---Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost................The only unforgivable sin Your Brother in Christ, Doug |
