1 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | SisterD | 15169
God wanted the Pharisees to turn from their "self righteous attitude" I am not self righteous...I KNOW that with out God I am LOST and undone and headed straight for a devils hell. It's GOD in us that works thru us to live the christian life...IF we are a willing vessel.....not our works...not our righteousness BUT HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS and HIS ALONE.....(we are nothen without him...BUT thru Him we are every thing He is... So you are tellen me that a person can except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, repent of their sins, and turn around and live as they did just prior to their new conversion in to the family of God (backslide) and still be saved and enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I think not!!! As for what am I saved from...from the live of sin and death thru Jesus Christ our Lord. Yes no man is perfect and all have and will sin....BUT....its what we chose to do about that sin...that determines our finaly resting place. We CAN NOT profess to be "CHRISTAIN" a child of God and live our lives like we are satans own...we must love one and hate the other....sweet and bitter water do not run from the same facuet...good and evil have no company with each other....you are either a child of God and live as such or you are a child of satan.... the enemy of our souls and live as such...but we can not have BOTH.... if we willfully sin we have an advocate with the father...if we repent from the heart he is faithfull and just to forgive us and if we do not find that place of repentence we will die in our sins. The wages of sin is DEATH; but the gift of God is eternal life throught JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD. We can chose to walk away from that gift of eternal life at any time and live as WE please and not as God pleases...we are not able to live a christian live without GOD"S HELP...we must surrender our selves to him and live as he would have us to as to the best of our ability and as we grow in God thru the power of the Holy Ghost....we WILL take on the nature/bahavior that of Holiness and sin will be an easier thing to walk away from....yes again ALL have and will sin in some degree BUT how we respon to the sin is the key to life or death. Life with God or life with out God....For the wages of sin is DEATH....but the GIFT of God is eternal life THRU Jesus Christ OUR LORD...not thru our rebelling against God....It's either Heaven or its Hell...you can not have both now and receive heaven in the end. You know we all have our own minds and points of view and our degree of faith and beleif. I beleif the entire bible to be the word of God and I look to it as our road map to salvation...if we live as we are taught by God thru his teachings (the word) and aply them on a daily bases and seek Him for guidence and help and direction and ask for understanding and wisdom, he will give all of these tings to us and then some..... But the MOST important key to the life of being a child of God his help for the working of our salvation (he says to work out your own salvation with trembling and fear) not work as to deeds or fear as to affraid of God....meaning...study to show thy self approved...rightly dividing the word of God and with out the Holy Ghost we can do NONE of these thing as God would have us to....with out the Holy Ghost dwelling on the inside of us we will not make it to that promise land. He that is born of the flesh is flesh and he that is born of the Spirit is Spirit.(John 3;6) (Romans 8:13) (Galatians 5:16-26). By the way what type church do you attend if I may ask. If any. I go to the First United Penticostal Church in my home town. |

If I have said any thing that has offended any one I am so sorry...I just beleive what I beleive and I am certaint hat I am not the only one with this point of view of scripture. 4 | What is eternal life? What is saved? | John 6:37 | Lionstrong | 15215
Dear Sister D, Once Saved, Always Saved The letters of the Apostles to the churches address many issues and questions. But have you noticed that one question that they do not directly answer that has been a big question in Western Christendom? Can a believer lose his salvation? Maybe this question was not address directly by the Apostles because it was not a question. They understood that if God acquitted you of guilt, if he declared you innocent, justified, forgiven, then that’s what you were. They understood that God would not renege on his promise, his declaration, his word. They understood that if God through Jesus saved a sinner, that sinner was saved to the uttermost. So, they understood that once God himself declared you justified, it was a done deal. So the big question of their day was on what basis would God justify a man in the first place? Their (the Jews) answer: by the works of the Law, by keeping God’s holy Law. The Apostles’ answer: It is now and has always been by faith on the basis of grace, not by keep God’s good and righteous commands. Paul then deals with the objections and questions of such a proposition as justification by faith alone apart from works of the law. Such objections as “if justification is by grace and not the law then a person can sin without any consequences.” (Rom 6) Now, once Paul presents the Gospel of justification by faith alone (Rom 1 through 8) and goes on to deal with other questions of the Christian life, he does NOT deal directly with the big question we “modern” Christians have, and that is, “Now that I’m saved, will or can I lose my salvation?” Although you’ll find a negative answer to that question indirectly and by implication in the writings of the Apostles, I think that the Apostles don’t deal directly with that question because for them it was a non-issue. "...he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jeus Christ," Paul says in passing. They dealt with other questions of Christian theology and Christian living. Peace, Lionstrong |
