1 | How does John 3:13 fit with Genesis 5:24 | John 3:13 | Morant61 | 108030 | ||
Greetings Roaring Lamb! No problem my friend! :-) I would address one side issue very quickly though. Having believed something, and then changed, isn't necessarily a good thing! :-) I say this because so often the implication in this statment is that 'I used to believe this until I learned better, and they will too once they learn what I have learned'! :-) Just as you are familiar with where this discussion will go, so too am I my friend. I have studied this issue many times from every perspective. Your ultimate arguement will most likely be that the account of Lazarus and the rich man is only a parable, even though Scripture never calls it a parable. You will probably argue that 'to be absent from they body' and 'to be present with the Lord' do not occur at the same time, but 'to be present with the Lord' refers to some future time. But, as I have examined the issue, it is much simpler to take 'sleep' as a poetic description instead of pressing too much meaning into it. Taken in this way, there is no conflict with what the rest of the Bible says about death. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Callie! 2 Kings 2:1-11 details this final great episode in the the life of Elijah. The only problem is that when we read the English word 'heaven', we think of it in terms of our modern word along with all of it's theological meaning. However, the Old Testament word 'heaven' simply doesn't possess all of that meaning. It simply refers to the skies. Elijah was taken up into the air in a flaming chariot, and out of Elisha's sight. Now, we know from the New Testament that no one was in 'Heaven' (as we think on the term) until after the resurrection of Christ. Until then, everyone simply went to Hades. For instance, see the account of Lazarus and the Rich Man, where both went to Hades. It was not until after the resurrection of Christ that believers are now enabled to go immediately to be with the Lord. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
