1 | ever neccessary/permissable to deceit? | Luke 24:31 | EdB | 79745
Radioman2 We are really getting into situational ethics. It is okay to lie sometimes but not others. Then the question becomes who makes the call, who says when it is okay to lie and when it is not okay? Obviously the nature of war has made some forms of deceit very common. For instance camouflage is a form of deceit. Misinformation is another form of deceit used in war. While they still are lies and deceit they are expected and considered acceptable in war. However in spreading the gospel we have to be very careful that we do not open the door for the adversary to put to shame what we are trying to glorify. Reverse the table, how would we feel if Muslims covertly came into or schools and indoctrinated our children to Islam? Do we see it differently when gay rights groups covertly slip in a teacher to teach our children the pro gay agenda. Do we say, “oh we do that all the time spreading the gospel in communist countries so I guess it is okay for them to do the same thing here?” No we get angry! Why because it is wrong, however it is just as wrong to do it for the right reasons as it is to do it for the wrong reason. We have to beware of the situational ethics trap, the door swings both ways. EdB |

Ed: You raise some good questions. However, I have never advocated tricking anyone into receiving the gospel or getting saved. Nor would I advocate misrepresenting the gospel in any way. Grace and peace, Radioman2 |

4 | ever neccessary/permissable to deceit? | Luke 24:31 | Radioman2 | 79755
Ed: It is I who should apologize. In fact, I did not mean to imply that you suggested I advocated trickery or misrepresentation. I know that you never said or implied that in regard to myself. I should have clarified that in my earlier post. Radioman2 |
