There is no indication of deception on the part of Jesus. Rather it was a lack of discernment on the part of the disciples that was remedied when Jesus sat down to "break bread" with them. At the breaking of the bread..."their eyes were opened and they recognized him and He disappeared from their sight." This is the same spiritual discernment that comes only by grace. It is the same discerment St. Paul speaks of in 1 Corinthians 11:24-27. Emmaus |
