Good evening, I quickly scanned the Pelagian link. Interesting. The church I go to believes in the age of accountability. Is there any scriptural reference to this. According to the Pelagian link there is no such thing. I would believe that God is merciful to infants however. Thanks, Ben |

Hi, Ben... As Baptists, we generally assert something along those lines. "Elect infants dying in infancy are regenerated and saved by Christ through the Spirit; who worketh when, and where, and how He pleases; so also are all elect persons, who are incapable of being outwardly called by the ministry of the Word. (John 3:3, 5, 6; John 3:8)" (1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, chapter 10, paragraph 3) However, the doctrine of the "age of accountability" per se, appears to be surmised, rather than taken directly from didactic teaching of Scripture.
