1 | WHERE TO FIND ALL THE NAMES OF GOD | Ps 83:18 | Truthfinder | 75467 | ||
This reveals poor research on your part EdB since, the first writer to use the term “Jehova” was a Catholic monk; not Tyndale! Raymundus Martini, a Spanish monk of the Dominican order, first rendered the divine name as “Jehova.” This form appeared in his book Pugeo Fidei, published in 1270 C.E.—over 700 years ago. Also, Adonai is not even a Greek word but the Hebrew Word translated into English as Lord. If you read any Hebrew translation as I do you will see that the vowel points are provided so yes indeed it is pronounced in Hebrew. Get a copy at Barns and Nobel book store. Jay Green’s Interlinear provides the vowel points so you can pronounce God’s name in Hebrew, which by the way is Yehovah. But when I speak English I use either Jehovah or Yaweh. Can you please tell me who the translators of the King James or the New American Standard Bible were? Like those translators the men who compose the translation committee of the NWT have indicated their desire to remain anonymous, and specifically do not want their names to be published while they are alive or after their death. The purpose of the translation is to exalt not men but the name of the living, true God. Although, I do know who one of the members of the committee was but respect his wishes. Interestingly, the jacket of the 1971 Reference Edition of the New American Standard Bible similarly stated: “We have not used any scholar’s name for reference or recommendations because it is our belief God’s Word should stand on its merits.” Your other question: How did they come upon the Codex Leningrad B 19A? Bible Societys that meet certain requirements can visit and sometimes photo copy the manuscripts in Russia as they did, although I do know of an individual who did from California and published a book on God’s name. Greetings Truthfinder! Publishing who the translators are for the NWT, would allow us to determine if they are even qualified to translate the Bible or not! Failure to do so forces us to look at their translation only. Here are some examples of deceptive translations which I posted a few days ago. How would you defend these? ******************************************** 1) John 8:58: In this verse, Jesus says "I AM". Here He is clearly identifying Himself as God by using the same name with which God identified Himself to Moses. The JW's do not accept that Jesus is God, so their NWT translates Jesus' statement as "I have been" in a very transparent attempt to shift the meaning away from what the Greek clearly says. 2) John 14:14: Here, Jesus says to the Disciples, "You can ask me anything in my name and I will do it." Yet, the NWT leaves out the word 'me'. Again, the reason is simple. They do not want it known that Jesus told us to pray to Him, because He is God. So, the NWT obscures this fact by leaving out a word which is specifically in the Greek text. 3) Acts 20:28: Here, it is said that we are to shepherd the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. Whose blood? God's blood. Whose church? God's church. Again, Scripture is clearly identifying Christ as God. Yet, the JW's don't want people to see this, so they add the word "Son" in brackets so that the verse reads, "With His Sons blood". Why? These are just a couple of quick examples. But, I think that they illustrate quite clearly that JW's have rejected the truth about Jesus and they 'tailor' their translation to fit their false doctrine about Jesus. *********************************************** These examples are simply indefensable. The NWT simply is not credible, and I believe that the failure to publish the list of translators is based upon their lack of qualifications and their inability to defend such translations as above.
