Very well put. I was looking at your kind comment earlier about dating, and thought about the date for Abraham. Realized it is based on 966 BC for Solomon, which is based on outside sources for the Mede and Persian Kings. Greentwiga |

Greentwiga Your comment reminded me of something I forgot. Most modern works offering dates worked backwards from known dates. In other words they started in 0 BC and went backwards. Your also correct secular history was then use to authenicate the dates, such as your example with Solomon. EdB |

There is some doubt about some of the Persian kings existance. If a few years were dropped out, the 70 weeks of Daniel might fit the coming of Jesus. Thus I have questions about using the secular dates. Thanks for the reply. Greentwiga |

Greentwiga There are some excellent books out on Daniel that contain reconcilations of Daniel to Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Reference Dr. David Jeremiah, John Walvoord, Heslop and Clarence Larkin. EdB |

Thank you. The ones that I have seen try to go with the current persian chronology rather than consider that mistakes have been made. I'll look at the ones you suggested. I don't like the other attempts. Greentwiga |

Greentwiga The ones I mention all use dates based on established dates of various rulers and the Jewish calendar. When you say mistaken Persian chronology I suspect you are referring to the confusion of son versus grandson, and the proper names that have been found instead to be titles (ex Darius). Yes do check them out and let me know you feelings. EdB |

It has taken me time to research. Slowly I add clues. One fact is that there are all sorts of business records that are dated by the various kings. Some kings have no records, and others have no records after a certain year despite our belief that he reigned more years. The length of the reigns of the kings mentioned in the Bible can be dated to the year, the month and sometimes the day, just by business records. The doubtful kings are said to have reigned after the Biblically recorded ones. There is a total of 77 years that are doubtful. The same time period in Egypt and Greece also has major problems with the dating. If about 27 years of the 77 years were added in, Daniels 69 weeks would go from the decree to Jesus much better. I am still studying the times. Even so, the end of the captivity until the decree in question is undated in the Bible and we still need to rely on outside sources. Even the dating of Jesus death still uses outside sources, but at least this is much better documented. |

I have been trying to correlate everyone from Abraham to the captivity with the rest of the world. some interesting possibilities. Updated my profile to say some things about me. | ||||||
