Subject: salvation |
Bible Note: It's not my line of reasoning, it is God's truth. We all know what the Bible says, and all have their own interpretation of what it means. But, without the illumination of the Holy Spirit, it is impossible to truly know what it means. Is this not obvious from the various meanings people derive? It's very simple...We are not forgiven because of anything we do, we are forgiven because of Christ's shed blood on the cross. There is nothing we can do to "activate" that forgiveness. It was God's initiative, He consulted no one, he did not ask if you wanted it, He simply did it. If you choose to believe that you are not forgiven, that is your choice, but it in no way changes what Jesus accomplished on the cross. You are still forgiven. This is the example set forth throughout the Old Testament, with the sacrifice of animals. Jesus is the perfect lamb, who takes away the sins of the whole world. The Father accepts His Sons sacrifice as propitiation for our sins. He places our sins behind His back never to see them again. Not because of anything we have done...but because of what His Son has done. We forgive because we are forgiven. |
