Bible Note: Hi Cuddle and I hope you enjoy the forum. I like your answer about what “a” church is. I would say you are right if one had the perfect scenario. The greater number of churches found now days and since I was a kid, which we won’t go into, wouldn’t even come close to your “model” conception. If we were still in the first century you would probably be pretty close. I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that’s what “a” church is biblically supposed to be. If one were to make a general overall assessment, now days, it would likely fall under the category of a community building where those of a mutual admiration gather. Some, that is a few, even go so far as to communicate God’s Word as inspired form what is known as the Bible. That definition, even though I said it, personally makes me bilious but that’s the way things are shaping up. Some one just asked, on the forum, about those that haven’t heard about Jesus. I had gone to church since I was a young pup and they mentioned Jesus but probably no more often then they did George Washington and I believed in him too. It wasn’t until I was 27 that a faithful believer in Christ pointed me in the right direction and I started reading the New Testament as per his instruction. By the time I got to the middle of the book of John, about a week after starting the New Testament, that precious Jesus of the Bible was revealed to me by God’s Spirit and He saved me right there, all by myself alone, one night. I could sense God right there in the room with me coming from the pages as I read His fantastic truth. Most of the churches I look at now days are trying to sing their way into God’s presence instead of, Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. I believe we need to get back to a place where the Bible is expounded on for a lengthy period of time, during a church service, so that the recipients can have more then a catchy song on which to base their trust. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Well, I will climb down from my soapbox now and go sing the same seven words eleven times, and if I have time I will study my Bible for a few minutes, after all didn’t someone say, faith cometh by singing?
