Subject: How important is your Church? |
Bible Note: Dear Jweaver, Thank you for the clarification. The church -- in the sense that we are using the word -- is a human activity. Consequently, it will have all the ills associated with sinful men. Denominations were a method that sought to eliminate some of those ills. Churches without denominational influence can be in even worse shape than a denominational church -- see the church in Corinth! In all cases, the wheat grows along with the tares. By the way, even Luther dreamed of a single denomination separate from the Church of Rome. Most of the orginal Reformers had that vision as well. In fact, some very great and Godly men even envisioned a state sponsored church. It is a very difficult question, frought with many different sub-issues, and cultural influence. Some denominations have accomplished great things in the name of Christ. Thanks again for your post. In Him, Doc |
