Bible Question:
I am mostly homebound so do not get to church ofen at all. Can't I still consider myself a Christian without the actual church attendance? So many places it says believe in Jesus and believe that he died for our sins and you will be saved. This seems to go back to the arguement about whether faith or works contribute to salvation. In my mind, its faith. Maybe this is too simplistic, but its what I believe. |
Bible Answer: Sandre, thanks for your post and I'll attempt a response to your question. You asked whether you, being a home-bound person, can still consider yourself to be a Christian without attending church regularly. If anyone is indeed a Christian, he is a Christian because Christ saved him by grace through faith, not because of the number of times he may have attended a church service. Church attendance is not salvific; the Bible never says that. If it were, it would go back to the unscriptural teaching that salvation is of works, as you refer to in your post..... God never asks us to do the impossible. Jesus never asked the lame to walk until after He had healed them. If you are home bound, you can still have fellowship with God, and I would feel, having read your post, that you surely do. May the Lord bless you richly. --Hank |
