Subject: Is the NWT more reliable than the NASB? |
Bible Note: Greetings Tsmith! Even if you are correct about these verses, which I don't accept, these points do not prove that the NWT is actually a translation at all. These days, anyone can pick up a Strong's or a Vine's and sound like he or she knows what he is talking about. But, that person may not actually be able to read the original languages at all. Who translated the NWT? Were they qualified? What manuscript tradition did they base their text upon? Did they use an ecclectic text of their own research or did they use one of the established texts? How did they judge between variant readings? What were their qualifications? These are the kinds of questions which must be answered in order to address the question of whether or not the NWT is actually a translation or not. If you would like to address specific translation choices of the NWT, I would be more than happy to do so. I have been trained in both Greek and Hebrew (though I have freely admitted that my Hebrew is VERY rusty). I do regularly read from the Greek NT though, and have been translating it for about 17 years now. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
