Subject: Is praying to created beings scriptural? |
Bible Note: Hi Hank, while reading your post, and realizing that there are many different ideas on how we should be living the life, the verses came to me in Eph. Ephes. 4:4-5 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; [5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Just about all true born again believers agree on these points. It is interesting to note that Paul didn’t go on with a bunch of other stuff that we can’t seem to agree on. I think that the reason he said that there is only one of those things mentioned in the list is because everything mentioned in the list is done for us; we don’t mess any of them up with things we do. There are other things that come into view and Paul gives the recommendation to Timothy on how to deal with them. 2 Tim. 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. A lot of times I personally have trouble with the longsuffering as many of you can attest. It is when we get outside of these guidelines and get into denominational differences that the feathers start flying, as it were. The new guidelines that Dan has put in place actually reverts back to 2 Tim. 4:2 I think that some of the problems come into play when individuals attempt to do what is mentioned in 2 Tim. 4:2. But in order to prove their point, using Scripture, they either pull it out of context or they allegorize or spiritualize verses so much that there view contradicts other Scripture. Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. I think it is a great that we can interact on the forum but oh how I wish people would stick to what the Bible actually says. I want to learn what God has to say about different subjects not man's views or denominational views. CDBJ |
