Subject: Dake's Annotated Bible |
Bible Note: Joe His notes are extensive, so much so, they probably outnumber the actual Bible word for word. Because there are so extensive they many times offer up alternate trains of thought. Some I agree with and others I reject but even those I reject offer another point of view that I feel a need to know about. Quite frankly his Pre Adamic world (gap theory) is an interesting read and one I feel helps me understand that point of view, however I do not hold to it. He does an excellent job of presenting a Pentecostal perspective to many things in the Bible. I also enjoy his view of End Times Theology although I'm not in total agreement with it. I think he handles Daniel’s 70 weeks well. I'm very cautious of his explanation of situations or events that just aren't explained in the Bible. He tends to track a sensational course when offering an explanation of those kind of things. One thing he didn’t do was avoid commentary on subjects most other commentaries ignore. I don’t know how many times I have approached a controversial subject and went to a commentary to see their perspective and found nothing. Dake always seems to step up and address the issue, his answer isn’t always what people want to hear, it may even be out in left field in my opinion, but he had guts enough to let his opinion be known.
