Bible Question: I just purchased a Dake's Annotated Bible. What do you people think of the Dakes Annotated Bible? |
Bible Answer: Scribe, there's no reason to assume you want anything less than an honest answer to your question about the Annotated Dake, so here goes. There are better ways to spend money...... If there is a study (annotated) Bible that gives me everything I want to know, I've yet to find it. But some give more than others. Study Bibles fall into two rather broad categories: [1] Ones that tend to promote various doctrinal or denominational views, e.g., Baptist, Reformed, Pentecostal. [2] Ones that attempt to be of broader spectrum and to present all or most of the popularly held views on disputed passages, e.g., NASB and Nelson Study Bibles. The study Bibles in my home library, listed in no particular order, are Baptist Study Bible, NASB, Ryrie, MacArthur, KJ Study Bible, and Defender's. In addition, I have a couple of commentaries and a number of other reference works.... If this has been worth anything to you, Scribe, please send me two cents when you get around to it :-) --Hank |
