Bible Note: Ok lets look at the conversion of Saul. And see what he did and must have been told to do. Acts 9 6So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." 15But the Lord said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake." 17And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus,[2] who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." 18Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. 19So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus. Saul Preaches Christ 20 Immediately he preached the Christ[3] in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Now here we see that Saul(Paul) was baptised and went and preached the Christ. Another conversion was Lydia. The bible says, "The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. 15And when she and her household were baptized" The scripture you quote is very similar but you are twisting it a bit by not reading it in context. It says: "30And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." 32Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized." Notice Paul it says they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. He and his family had to be preached to first so they would understand Jesus. Then the next scripture says: "33And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized" Now I might ask you the same question. Did Jesus make an inaccurate statment? Why did He say be baptized if it wasn't needed? I think you can see that one is no good without the other. In each of the above examples the word of God was preached resulting in baptism of the believer. It cannot be denied.
