Subject: Church is kidnapped to Sodom! |
Bible Note: Hi Meredith, What got me going on this topic was the contention put forth by JesusFreak, that as long as the leader has repented, then the church is scripturally compelled to restore him to his leadership role. PastorPaul seems to support that same view. The problem is that the verses they have cited are one's that deal with MEMBERSHIP not LEADERSHIP. Now as you have appropriatly pointed out, David sinned in adultery and murder and yet God did not remove him from his role as king over Israel. The question in my mind is: Are we to take the case of David and apply it to the NT church? Or is there in the NT itself explicit teaching on how the church should act in circumstances like the one we are considering? God willing, I will continue this line of thought after further study. It's always good to her from you, John |
